Nick received a Bachelor’s degree in Justice Systems from Truman State University. Furthering his education, Nick obtained a Master of Science degree in Forensic Computing and Cybercrime Investigation from the University College Dublin.
Nick is a former computer programmer and worked for sixteen years with the Omaha Police Department. He spent the second half of his tenure there creating the department’s digital forensic unit and supporting their digital needs as both an analyst and detective. In addition, Nick has extensive experience working with cell tower call detail records. Of interest, cases involving Nick’s cyber investigations have been featured twice on Dateline (NBC), as well as 48 Hours (CBS) Caught in the Net (ID), and On the Case with Paula Zahn (ID). After retiring from the police department, Nick used his expertise to identify/prevent cyber attacks and perform digital forensic investigations at bank, telecommunications, and healthcare companies.
Regarding his credentials, Nick is recognized as a Certified Forensic Computer Examiner by the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS), and he remains active coaching and instructing the next generation of digital investigators. Furthermore, Nick has been a Cellebrite Certified Instructor and he has taught mobile forensics and Python programming. In addition, Nick has also been a Cybervance instructor and taught cyber methods to counter threats to nations abroad.
